Partnership Development in Region 5
R5 has begun the critical steps towards changing the way we conduct business.

In FY00, the R5 Regional Leadership Forum (RLF) identified "Building/Maintaining Advocacy for Public Lands" as the #1 issue for their Strategic Agenda.

In FY01, the RLF met at Golden Gate National Park to experience how the National Park Service has engaged the public in caring for and telling the story of the Park.

In FY02, FS Grant Strategists enterprise unit (FSGS) completed an Overview of Partnerships report for Region 5.

In FFY03, FSGS facilitated the development of the R5 Partnership Strategy [PDF, 39 pages, 345kb].

In FY03, the Southern California Province forests piloted a business planning process to identify gaps between priority resource needs and availability. Business planning will continue through FY06 on the remainder of R5 Forests.

In FY04, the Office of Advocacy Support was created to focus partnership, collaboration and business planning efforts under one umbrella in the Regional office. Today, this office still exists but with a new title "R5 Partnership Office", under the leadership of Janice Gauthier.

In FY05, 5 forests completed Business Plans which included a focus on working with partners to implement Business Plan Strategies.
