Partnership Development in Region 5

R5 has begun the critical steps towards changing the way we conduct business.

  • In FY00, the R5 Regional Leadership Forum (RLF) identified "Building/Maintaining Advocacy for Public Lands" as the #1 issue for their Strategic Agenda.

  • In FY01, the RLF met at Golden Gate National Park to experience how the National Park Service has engaged the public in caring for and telling the story of the Park.

  • In FY02, FS Grant Strategists enterprise unit (FSGS) completed an Overview of Partnerships report for Region 5.

  • In FFY03, FSGS facilitated the development of the R5 Partnership Strategy [PDF, 39 pages, 345kb].

  • In FY03, the Southern California Province forests piloted a business planning process to identify gaps between priority resource needs and availability. Business planning will continue through FY06 on the remainder of R5 Forests.

  • In FY04, the Office of Advocacy Support was created to focus partnership, collaboration and business planning efforts under one umbrella in the Regional office. Today, this office still exists but with a new title "R5 Partnership Office", under the leadership of Janice Gauthier.

  • In FY05, 5 forests completed Business Plans which included a focus on working with partners to implement Business Plan Strategies.
