Don's Toolbox
After 18 years with the Forest Service, I have seen many pieces of remarkably fine work in the fields of
Environmental Education, Partnerships, Marketing, and Natural Resources Policy documentation. Often,
the work was not shared and ultimately finds a place on a shelf or in a box………Hopefully, when you are
in the fields of Partnerships, Marketing, Environmental Education, Program Management, preparing natural
resources policy documents, or just day to day letter writing, recognizing exemplary work, or looking for
an idea, you will use the CD as your primary source….
The CD is loaded with examples of watershed analyses, biological assessments,
partnership proposals, (blank forms and working examples), marketing examples, environmental education
curriculums, interpretive signs, camera ready logos (agency and partners), sample photographs, thank you
letters, letters of recognition, websites, and much more - all the things you need at one time or another
during your career.
Very special thanks and recognition are in order. I would like to thank Don
Schaller, Gifford Pinchot National Forest for sharing his computer knowledge to assemble all of the data
for the CD - what a job! Thanks to Dan O'Connor, Wenatchee National Forest for his endless creativity,
and his ability to build the CD (and make it work) - mind boggling! Also thanks to John Hutmacher,
Deschutes National Forest volunteer, for all of the beautiful photographs used on this CD. Special
recognition also goes out to every person or organization that shared something to put on the CD. The
willingness to unselfishly share their efforts speaks volumes about their commitment to natural resources
management!
